So i've done some detailed shoot for bits n pieces of my genuine SAS "Black-kit". These "Gucci-kits" from Herefordshire are, and have always been, one of the hardest to acquire militaria collectibles. The historical significance of these epoch-making kits from the very early days of Counter-Terrorism often places these unique items inside display cases at museums. As a fortunate Black-kit owner myself i felt it's my duty to share my knowledge and insight, to honor those Black-knights who wrote the every rules known in the modern day Counter-Terrorism tactics. 今回はSASの通称ブラックキット実物特集ですが、各アイテム詳細な写真を撮りましたので解説つきで紹介します。
これらHerefordshire駐屯地より流出してきた「グッチなキット」は、今も昔も最も入手の難しいミリタリアコレクタブルのひとつです。対テロの歴史そのものを体言すると言ってもよいこれらSAS CRWのエポックメイキング的な実物装備品は、資料館や博物館にも多く所蔵されているものです。幸運に恵まれたブラックキットのオウナーとしてはこれら装備品の知識や見解をシェアすることが、今日にいたる対テロ戦略のルールを書いた黒き騎士たちへ尊敬の念を示すこととなると考えます。

An assembled Paul Evers leather belt-kit from early 90's. SAS CRW teams are counter-terrorism specialists who execute their operations with highest level of speed, aggression and surprise, not to arrest those possibly-surrendering criminal suspects, but to "eliminate" those death-prepared terrorists at all costs. Their aggressive and strategic use of CS/RS gas and Flashbangs/Door charges in conjunction, often cause catastrophic building fire. CRW operaters must be prepared for charging into burning rooms anyday, thus select their equipments with much of the fire-proof priority in their minds. Neither Nylon nor Kydex withstands the exposure to such high heat environments but causes breakage and quite possibly an injury by melting on you. ポールエヴァース製、９０年代初期、レザーベルトキット。 SAS CRWチームは対テロに特化した決戦部隊であり、犯罪被疑者に対し投降を求めその逮捕を目的とするのではなく、死を十分覚悟したテロリストをいかなる手をもってしても殲滅する、というのがその任務であり、有名な「あの」標語の他に Speedスピード, Aggression強引さ and Surprise驚嘆　をSASの隠語としても掲げている部隊である。いかなる手をもってしても、ということは戦略的に有利な武器装備をためらわず使用することであり、彼らのフラッシュバングや各種爆発物とCS/RSガスの戦略的併用は致命的レベルの建物火災を引き起こすことが多い。それゆえCRWの隊員達は消防士よろしく燃え盛る部屋に突入するような作戦に日ごろより備えておかなければならず、その装備は対火性、難燃性を重要視して選定する。ナイロンやカイデックス等の化学系素材ではそのような高温には耐えず、破損や引火、熱く解けた素材による熱傷の危険もあるだろう。
Paul Evers was a holster leather smith whom his master Len Dixon passed his fabled work with SAS CRW teams onto. The design concept of original Len Dixon belt-kit as used in the Iranian embassy siege remains profound in these early 90's examples by Paul Evers, yet battle-proven, faster to draw and even more durable in construction.レザーホルスター職人であるポールエヴァース氏はCRW創設期よりベルトキットを開発し納入してきた師である先代レン ディクソン氏の職を引き継いだいわば二代目である。イラン大使館事件で使用された初代レン ディクソン氏によるベルトキットのデザインコンセプトを踏襲しながらも、ポールエヴァース氏のデザインはバトルプルーフされ、さらに早く抜け、さらに頑丈に作られていることが特徴だ。



This assault holster example is by Paul Evers in 92' for Sig Sauer P226 pistol, however in Len Dixon original design simular to the Browning holster displayed at London imperial museum. Story for this particular example is unknown but the existance of NZ arrow stamp suggests that this was made for NZ SAS CRW team. Len Dixon design holsters featured rotating holster body for achieving faster kneeling-draw angle, but this feature (along with quick release type belt loop)caused breakages at operation Nimrod (iranian embassy siege), several operaters dropped their sidearms during their abseil and inside the embassy. Thus later on, they duct-taped these holsters around its rotating mechanism and on belt loop to reinforce them. Comparing to the improved later models, the holster is bit shorter in its drop length, and secured by an Army universal web strap as a leg strap, which would be replaced by fire-resistant Nomex made elastic strap in later models as well.　こちらのホルスターはポールエヴァース製９２年度納入、SIG SAUER P226ピストル用でありながら、英国帝国博物館所蔵のレン ディクソン製初代のブローニングハイパワーピストル用ホルスターと同様の構造をしている特異な例だ。詳細は定かではないが、NZアロー刻印から、ニュージーランドSAS CRWチームに納入されたものであろう。レン ディクソン製初代のデザインのホルスターの大きな特徴として、回転機能付のホルスターであることが挙げられる。これはしゃがんだ状態でもホルスター本体が回転し銃が抜きやすくなる仕掛けだが、これはイラン大使館事件におけるニムロッド作戦において、激しい動きを伴うアブセイリング（ラペリング）中にホルスターが破損、銃ごと落としてしまった隊員が複数いたとされる。その後隊員達はガムテープでこの回転機能を殺し補強、はずれやすいメインベルトループのオープン機能も同様に殺して脱落を防ぐ工夫をしたとされる。以下に示すポールエヴァース氏による改良型にくらべて、ドロップが浅く（ホルスター全長が短く）、またレッグストラップには英陸軍官給コットンウェッブ製ユニバーサルストラップを代用するようになっている。レッグストラップも、改良型ではノーメックス難燃生地使用のエラスティック（伸縮性）バンドに改良される。




An improved design Paul Evers assault leg holster with issue stamp reading March/91'. This example lacks the "PE" trade mark logo, this is seen in his pre 92' products as he registered his company "Holsters International" attached to his signature logo in 92'.Quite possibly though Paul Evers was still producing his gears with LenDixon supervising him alongside at this time. An another but minor characteristic on early Paul Evers holsters is the "stay-open" button dot mounted on holster body for its thumb-break strap to lock open. This feature seems dropped in later models as it is unnecessary. ９１年3月の納入スタンプが入った ポールエヴァース製改良型アサルトレッグホルスター。エクステンション部には頑丈な鉄板入り。この例には"PE"のトレードマークが無いが、これは９２年以前の初期 ポールエヴァース氏作製品にみられる特徴で、彼の"PE"トレードマークは９２年に自身が "Holsters International" という会社を立ち上げた後に登場する。もうひとつの初期ポールエヴァースの小さな特徴に、サムブレイクのタブを開状態で固定するためのボタンドットがある。これはレン ディクソン氏デザインの名残りで、不必要との理由で以降の製品からは姿を消した。




Paul Evers MP5 triple drop leg pouch with an issue stamp reading,,, well, Feb/？？. Although the make year is unreadable, the construction of the pouch suggests it's made in 92'~95' time frame. Pre 92' MP5 drop leg pouches had studs on beltloops which stick into un-used holes on duty belt. ポールエヴァース製HK MP5用　ドロップレッグ　トリプルマガジンポーチ。納入スタンプの年号のみパーツで隠れていて２月とのみ確認可能。しかし各部の作りの特徴から、９２年以降９５年頃までの納入品と推測される。９２年以前の製品には上ホルスター同様トレードマークが無いことの他、 MP5用ドロップレッグポーチに関してはベルトループの部分に、デューティーベルトの空きスロットに入る金属スタッドが付いていた。




Rarest of the rarest example here is this pistol mag pouch for extended P226 mags. No stampings what so ever, but shares simular characteristics with MP5 pouch in its structure to hold longer magazines more securely. Regular PaulEvers pistol mag pouch is shorter and comes with leather "cups" at the bottom. This example is quite possibly an experimental issue, as regular mag pouch design holds extended mags just fine while standard mags in this pouch would sit too deep, as shown in my photos.
今回紹介する装備品のなかでも、最もレアであろうものは、このP226特殊延長マガジン用マガジンポーチだ。何の刻印もなく詳細不明だが、通常のポールエヴァース製ピストルマグポーチにくらべて当然長く、延長マガジンをより確実に保持するためにMP5用ポーチ同様のストラップ式構造をしている。通常マガジン用の一般的なものには、ストラップの代わりにカップ状の受け皿 が底部についており、それらでマガジンリップ部を保持する構造をしていた。この例のものは、隊員が個人的にポールエヴァース氏に作らせたワンオフか、おそらくは試験的に極少数生産、納入されたものではないかと思われる。




Paul Evers CT assault belt, nothing special about this belt differing from usual "sam-browne" type police duty belts, yet it's apparently built in quality craftsmanship. Matter fact, the operator who was issued of this example loved it so much that he seems to have repaired the belt himself, replacing a worn belcro with Army standard issue OD tape. We all have that special something we just can't live without, don't we？ポールエヴァース製CTアサルトベルト。何の変哲もないサムブラウンタイプの警官用デューティーベルトに見えるが、そこはやはり量販品と違い、各部ともに一流の職人による仕事が垣間見える屈強な作りをしている。実際、このベルトキットを支給されたCRW隊員は、使い古して弱くなったベルクロを、官給品のODベルクロに自分で張り替えており、愛着がうかがえる。これが無いとなんかダメっていうアイテムは、誰にでもあるはずだ。
